As a Wyoming resident: You may purchase a hand gun or long gun (rifles or shotguns) after completing and receiving approval from a NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) background check performed at our location at 102 E Bridge Ave in downtown Saratoga, Wyoming. In the case of transfers to Koyoty Sports, or from Koyoty Sports to your local FFL dealer, the appropriate paperwork and NICS check will be done when picking the firearm up, not when ordering the firearm.

As a non-resident:  You may purchase long guns after completing and receiving approval from a NICS background check. Hand guns must be shipped to an FFL dealer in your state of residency.

In the case of transfers to Koyoty Sports, or from Koyoty Sports to your local FFL dealer, the appropriate paperwork and NICS check will be done when picking the firearm up, not when ordering the firearm.

NICS Background Check: Fill out the first page of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives form 4473 (5300.9). A copy of a valid ID and proof of physical address (if not listed on ID) are required.

Information is submitted to the NICS system, with results returning usually within 5 minutes.

Three Possible Results:

Proceed – the purchaser is immediately cleared to complete the purchase of their firearm.

Denied – the purchaser is not cleared to buy the firearm due to a failed background check, and the transaction is terminated.

Delayed – more research must be done by the agency. The purchaser is placed on a waiting list not longer than 5 business days. Once the agency has completed researching, you will be issued a proceed or denied ruling.
